HOUSTON, TX, Apr 22 (MARKET WIRE) -- The 7th Annual Latin American Leadership Forum is set for April 27-29 atthe Westin Hotel in the Galleria. Look for the Stars to be in contention next season. Those are my predictions for 2008-2009.. Avery will make that team look better. The Stars have the leadership in Modano, the star goaltending in Turco, the youth in over half the team, and now the feisty Sean Avery. Signing Huet probably means that Khabibulin is on his way out.Dallas Stars:After making the run to the conference finals last year, the Stars are going to be at it again. The Stars have just signed agitator Sean Avery for four years and $15.5 million. They have a chance to be a really great team to go after the cup next year. The Hawks already have the young team that was good last year and adding Campbell and Huet on the back end will make them better. The defending Stanley Cup champions beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games last season and are going to go after it again and try to defend their title. After signing all star power forward Marian Hossa to a one year deal worth $7.4 million, they already seem like the obvious choice this year.Chicago Blackhawks:Another team that made a huge splash in this year's free agency pool signing Goaltender Cristobal Huet and defenseman Brian Campbell (for a whopping $56.8 million for eight years).

The only downside about today for the Rangers is they lost agitator Sean Avery to the Dallas Stars.Let's take a look at the Western Conference.Detroit Red Wings:The Wings are going to be the favorite again this year. They also re-signed Jay Pandolfo and Bryce Salvador. The Devils have always been a defense first team and with the signings of Holik and Rolston they will have a little more fire power to them.New York Rangers:The Rangers didn't necessarily make a big splash on the first day of free agency, but they sure did the second day.The Rangers got off to a fast start on Wednesday trading defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman for two forwards from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Nikolai Zherdev and David Fritsche. They still haven't signed Jaromir Jagr at the time of this article, nor Brendan Shanahan, but he looks to be as good as gone. Some of the players are Ryan Malone, Gary Roberts, Radim Vrbata, and Olaf (Ollie the Goalie) Kolzig just to name a few.New Jersey Devils:The Devils have flashed back to the year 1995, yes their first cup, with the signings of Bobby Holik, and Brian Rolston. In the old NHL, those 71 points could have gotten you to ninth or 10th place. The Lightning have just signed a whole slue of great players and they made the biggest splash in the free agency pool so far.

Let's take a trip back to last season where they finished in last place, not just in the East but the whole league with 71 points. It is time to ask that all important question: Who will win the cup in 2009? Let's start with the Eastern Conference first:Tampa Bay Lightning:The new management can possibly turn this team around. It is even more unimaginable that they would allegedly do so with a loaded handgun in their vehicle," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.(Reporting by Michelle Nichols; Editing by David Storey) U.S.. U.S.Prosecutors said Erika Santana, 23, drove the van with her four-year-old and five-month-old children inside after Hugo Lantigua, 22, who is the baby's father, and Pedro Camillo, 19, broke into two houses in the borough of Queens.Santana, Lantigua and Camillo face charges including burglary, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, and face up to 25 years in prison."It is unthinkable that a mother and father would put their children in harm's way while allegedly committing these crimes. NEW YORK (Reuters) - A mother was accused on Wednesday of driving a getaway minivan with her two young children inside after burglaries at two New York City homes. Drew and Manny Ramirez following in the line-up, is almost becoming two more guaranteed outs.Yes, Drew is still having is occasion two-hit game with a homer, but he is not the J.D.

Drew finally realizing he's human the offense has come to a halt. So, with this entire “wrong,” will my Sox find a way to climb out of it?I sure do hope so, but right now it seems unlikely. The first problem, in my eyes, lies with a player whom I gave great praise too several weeks ago.Jacoby Ellsbury, one of the fastest and most exciting players in the game, is simply not getting on base.  He is not getting hits, which would be okay if he could stay patient and take a walk once in awhile. With Ellsbury seemingly always walking back to the dugout after three pitches, the smoking hot Dustin Pedroia has no one to drive in.J.D. Louis series. After losing the first two games of the series, it took a walk off home run by Kevin Youkilis to save the boys from being swept in Fenway. Then, they managed to take two of three from the Diamondbacks, despite some shoddy hitting, was exhibited in stretches during that series by the team. After seeing this, I thought I had found the perfect solution: a trip to Houston. However, the Astros played tough and stole two out of three from Boston leaving them in a funk going into possibly the most important week of the year, not in September. The first two games against the Rays kept up the trend: untimely hits given up by the pitchers and a lack of them by the hitters. With Manny Ramirez, in a horrific slump, and J.D. At the beginning of the year all Red Sox fans believed a repeat was in the cards. The team had everything: pitching, exciting young players, veteran leaders, sluggers, an experienced manager, and an exceptional front office. However, as the All-Star break approaches, the Sox have seemed to lose some luster.Sitting in second place behind the first place Rays, and seemingly having an offense incapable of getting any runs across when they need them, the Sox are now reeling. To me the evidence of this current low level of play began in the St. District Court for the Southern District Court of New York (Manhattan)(Reporting by Grant McCool, editing by Maureen Bavdek) U.S.. District Court for the Southern District Court of New York (Manhattan)USA v Dreier 09-00085 U.S. He has surrendered his passport and he is confined to his apartment, which is electronically monitored. The cases are USA v Kovachev 08-mj-02792 U.S. The government has 30 days to either file additional charges against Kovachev, obtain a grand jury indictment or a guilty plea, which is typical at this stage of such cases."We are not committed to any course of action," Madden said in court.Kovachev is out on a $300,000 personal recognizance bond, co-signed by three people and secured by $100,000 in cash or property.
